Revenge of the Creature (1955)
Directed by Jack Arnold Starring John Agar and Lori Nelson

Though most people are at least aware of the classic 1950's monster film, "Creature from the Black Lagoon," few know that it spawned two somewhat inferior sequels. "Revenge of the Creature" was the first, and begins a year after the incidents of the first film. The creature is captured and brought to an aquarium in Florida where it's chained up and put on public display. The movie starts well, but drags a little in the middle until the creature falls in love with a beautiful, young female ichthyologist, breaks free and carries her away. Can the authorities stop the monster before he escapes with his prize? Well, what do you think? Overall, the film is quite good -- although it misses the self-contained perfection of the original. The creature costume and underwater photography are amazing, even by today's standards! The script is solid and surprisingly, the film delivers a couple of real scares. Again, it's not nearly as good as the original, but, for what it is, it's a great classic monster film. Highly recommended!

A popular potluck or picnic dish that every 1950s housewife knew how to make was deviled eggs. The following classic recipe has five simple ingredients found in most homes!
Classic Deviled Eggs
- 6 hard boiled eggs
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- salt and pepper to taste
1. Boil six eggs in water for 15 to 20 minutes. Let completely cool.
2. Peel the eggs and cut in half.
3. Scoop out the yolks, place in a bowl and mash with a fork.
4. Add ground mustard, vinegar, mayonnaise, salt and pepper to the yolks and stir well until smooth.
5. Carefully put the egg yolk mixture back into the egg whites but do not pack it. There will be enough mixture so the whites are overfilled.
6. Garnish with paprika or parsley.
Yield: 12 servings
Bring this tasty appetizer to your Fourth of July celebration or serve at your next backyard barbecue! We give these "egg-cellent" treats 5 out of 5 "firecrackers!" ENJOY!
