The Mihmiverse marches onward with the official announcement of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's next film, "Demon with the Atomic Brain!"An attempt to weaponize a machine capable of opening portals to other worlds fails, and instead creates an exponentially expanding "bubble" of fractured space-time! A team of specialists must enter the disturbance and make their way down a rabbit hole of increasingly more dangerous alternate realities in the hopes of finding and shutting down the machine which created it! However, someoneor SOMETHING—seems determined to stop them before the "bubble" engulfs the entire universe itself!
"Demon with the Atomic Brain" is currently being scripted and, should everything work out just right, will premiere late next year!
According to writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, he plans to hold open auditions for most roles in the new film. This will be the first true Mihmiverse open audition since production of "Cave Women on Mars" in 2007! Stay tuned...

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966)
Directed by
Alan RafkinStarring
Don Knotts,
Joan Staley and
Dick Sargent
Don Knotts stars in this classic comedy as Luther Heggs, a lovable scaredy-cat who works as a typesetter for a small town newspaper. He dreams of one day becoming a big-time reporter and, after being prodded by the paper's janitor to write a story about a local murder-suicide which took place many years prior in a now-presumed haunted house, he slyly slips the article into the paper. The story proves popular with the local citizenry and to boost paper sales, Luther is tapped to spend a night in the old mansion...on the 20th anniversary of the original crime, no less. As he settles in for the night, the house seemingly comes alive with ghostly happenings. The next morning, he writes a story about his otherworldly experiences and he quickly becomes a minor celebrity. Unfortunately, the man who inherited the house isn't particularly happy with the publicity and sues Luther and the newspaper for libel. What follows is a fun, goofy and wholesomely entertaining story about a man in over his head who may or may not have experienced what he thought! "
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" can be enjoyed by everyone and is a great movie for this time of year for kids of all ages! The humor is playfully innocent and several running gags are quite funny. Don Knotts was a skilled physical comedian and this film is a perfect example of it. Highly recommended!

Dino-Mite!
Name these cheesy prehistoric creature features.
1. (1948) An adventure seeker and his wife-to-be visit an uncharted island, only to find that it is inhabited by deadly dinosaurs and other creatures ready to attack. Virginia Grey and Richard Reed star, with Ray Corrigan playing a giant sloth.
2. (1951) James Arness had his first starring role in this film that included pirates, a love triangle and lots of dinosaurs.
3. (1951) Major Joe Nolan (played by Cesar Romero) heads a rescue mission to recover a downed atomic rocket in the South Pacific. The crew crash lands on a mysterious island, and meets up with a native girl and some dinosaurs.
4. (1956) Guy Madison stars an American cowboy living in Mexico who discovers his cattle are being eaten by a giant prehistoric dinosaur.
5. (1960) Professor Challenger leads an expedition to a remote plateau deep in the Amazon jungle to verify his claim that dinosaurs still live there. They do. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the story this film was based on, and the all-star B-movie cast included Michael Rennie, Jill St. John, David Hedison, Fernando Lamas and Claude Rains.

Many fans and supporters of the Mihmiverse may not realize that most of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's films have been subtitled and dubbed into the Esperanto language. As a result, we often hear from Esperanto speakers about new projects.
Recently, a
Kickstarter campaign was launched to raise money for a new app called
Amikumu. This app, launched by members of the Esperanto community, intends to help users find people nearby with whom to speak any language. For example, if someone is learning French, that person could use
Amikumu to find others who speak or are learning French locally. It's like
Tinder for languages!
To date, the app's
Kickstarter campaign has been smashing its goals and the organizers have decided to open up their app not just to languages, but to all interests groups. So, if you're a healthily obsessed Mihmiverse fan, you could use the app to see who else locally is just as awesome as you!
We here at the
Mihmiverse Monthly encourage you to contribute to their campaign and help them reach their stretch goals! Click

IMPORTANT MOMENTS IN SCIENCE with DR. BOB TESLA
This month, I decided to teach you all about something that has gone from a scientific idea to a sci-fi weapon to a cat toy in just 59 years! We're talking about the history of lasers!
First off, the spelling should be LASERs since LASER is an acronym for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation," if we are to be 100% correct. However, over the years, the word has morphed to just be 'laser' in much the same way as 'radar' or 'scuba' have lost their formal upper-case spellings. Next thing to know is that this really is the birthday month for it! November 9th in 1957, Gordon Gould wrote down his idea that came from his doctoral thesis and, from that, we had the birth of the laser! And also proof that doctoral theses are not useless academic papers!
The first operational laser didn't fire until May 16th, 1960. That first one could only fire red pulses but it was a promising start. Since that point, lasers have gotten more powerful (the National Ignition Facility can trigger nuclear fusion with their laser!) and cheap enough that you can get one for your key chain for a couple of dollars. Lasers also changed the face of technology in just a few decades. Without lasers, we wouldn't have had compact discs, laser printers, fiber optic communications, laser surgery nor would Christopher R. Mihm be able to sell you his DVDs!
One of their most lasting effects has been on entertainment. How many space movies have laser weapons (even though technically, we should be seeing their beams going 'pew pew')? Holograms are also ubiquitous in sci-fi movies and television. Lasers are an integral part of holograms and, while holography is still in very early phases, holograms have made some major impacts on pop culture like that Tupac Shakur performance at Coachella.
How long until the films of the Mihmiverse are available in hologram form? Ask writer/director Christopher R. Mihm.
