CURRENT NEWS
Following on the heels of the release of his latest film, "The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)," writer/director Christopher R. Mihm is ready to move forward on his NEXT movie, "Revenge of the Monster!"

Revenge of the Monster
When Sheriff Hayes (Michael Kaiser) gets wind of strange sightings near Phantom Lake, his investigation into the matter turns up more than he bargained for in the form of a horrific creature that melts its victims on contact... with nothing left but bones! Will his new, unwanted partner help or hinder his ability to stop it before it destroys everything in its path? AND, could this monster be related to previous otherworldly goings-on, and possibly, the lawman's own family history? Find out in "Revenge of the Monster!"

Don't forget that the Mihmiverse is only made possible by contributions from fans like you. With this next film in its beginning stages, now is the time when the production needs your contributions the most!

For each $25.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film, and a customized, frame-able document certifying their contribution! Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

A single credit is defined as the name of one (1) person or corporate entity. Any credit requiring the word "and," an ampersand (&), and/or a comma (except when part of a legal company name) will constitute multiple credits and MUST BE paid for separately. Contributors have NO SAY in the decisions or actions taken by anyone involved in the actual production of the film and are NOT entitled to ANY possible future profits earned by the film, derivative works, and/or merchandise created for or featuring elements from the film. Becoming a contributor does not entitle the participant to ANY ownership WHATSOEVER of the finished film or associated elements.

NOTE: Physical media copies of the finished film are NOT included with contributions. If you would like to receive DVDs and/or Blu-Rays of the film when it is released, you MUST pre-order them separately. We reserve the right to refuse any credit we deem inappropriate. All refused credits will be refunded.

It's been a month since the 21st Mihmiverse film, "The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)," held its world premiere event and, if you weren't there, you missed an amazing night!

For the first time since the release of "The Giant Spider" in 2013, the premiere sold out in advance! Despite fears that moving the event from the Heights Theater to the Mounds Theatre would negatively affect attendance, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was extremely happy with the enthusiastic crowd that seemed to greatly enjoy the new film (and the themed cocktails)! There were laughs aplenty and, immediately following the movie, DVDs, Blu-Rays, and posters flew off the shelves, and scores of folks snapped photos with the "Big Daddy Hot Dog!"

All things considered, the world premiere of "The Wandering Creature (and Other Tales)" was a great success. It was heartwarming to see, as the Mihmiverse series continues into its third decade, that a zeal still exists for its endearing and enduring charms! If you were unable to attend, we hope you'll join us next year for the world premiere of the next Mihmiverse masterpiece, "Revenge of the Monster!"

ORDER "THE WANDERING CREATURE" TODAY!

Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm takes a stab (pun intended) at an anthology movie in the vein of "Twilight Zone: The Movie," "Trilogy of Terror," and "Creepshow," albeit in his signature retro-B-movie style! In a series of linked, short tales-of-horror, an unmanned spacecraft returning from the asteroid Vesta breaks-up upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere and scatters sample containers across Phantom Lake County! Not-so-unexpectedly (particularly for a Mihmiverse movie), contact with the mysterious, otherworldly contents of these canisters creates a whole host of terrifying creatures, like mushroom monsters, killer garden gnomes, and more! Can the local population survive such shocking encounters, or will this be the end of all life in Phantom Lake County!?

The disc contains a high quality digital transfer of the film and several exclusive special features, including a blooper reel, two photo galleries, feature-length commentary with writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, English subtitles, and more!

Feature Run Time: 1 hour, 12 minutes. Black & White, Widescreen, NOT RATED.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
In this column, we dig through old issues of the Mihmiverse Monthly and Phantom Lake Almanac (which was the original name of this newsletter!) and present interesting bits and pieces from the past! After all, this newsletter has been around since the release of "The Monster of Phantom Lake" back in 2006, so there's a LOT to choose from!

This month, we go back to June of 2022 and feature a column called Mihmiverse Fan Focus, which was a monthly interview with randomly chosen fans of the films of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm!

MIHMIVERSE FAN FOCUS

This month, we interview Chuck & Alberta Holloway!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hello Mihmiverse! I'm Alberta (AKA Bobbie), 74 years old (I'll be 75 on July 5th!), and a female disabled Air Force veteran as a Law Enforcement Instructor and agent. I've worked for Ringling Bros Circus in the aerial ballet, as dancer and an elephant rider. I've worked for two veterans' organizations for a combined 27 years helping other veterans fight the VA for benefits. I should also mention that, in my much earlier years, I was with a dance group that got to dance at a gorilla's wedding! Yes, I know that sounds weird, but it's true!

My husband is Charles (Chuck) and turned 78-years-young on April 25th—which means he shares a birthdate with writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, albeit a few years apart! He was a radio operator in the Navy and worked for Disney for 29 years before retiring. He's a Florida native and knows more about being in the woods than ol' Daniel Boone himself!

We've been married for 24 years, are great big fans of the Mihmiverse, and love fishing, camping, and anything tropical! We have two incredible pups, Sasha and Chewie who will honestly sit and watch the movies with us! We lost our little girl Roxie over the rainbow bridge 6 years ago, but she is still much loved.

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
I have always been obsessed with old sci-fi and scary movies of the '50s and '60s. I was lucky enough to have a grandmother who worked at a theatre when I was a child, so I was able to get into the movies free and sit all day. This is when I discovered Vincent Price, giant spiders, gila monsters, giant leeches, and other creepy crawlies of my favorite era!

These days, we really don't watch regular TV anymore, but we always look for film noir and retro movies by perusing through Roku channels. One day while doing this, I saw a channel with a retro-looking monster on it and saved it to my channels. As I looked at the titles, I realized I didn't recognize any of them—which was great!

We first started watching a movie called "Queen of Snakes" and our first thought was, "What the heck is this?" It was something different and new... but also NOT new! After watching that, we decided to watch a second: "The Giant Spider." Afterwards we thought, "Okay, that was really, really incredible!" We had to know who was making these films, so we decided to investigate further and started reading up on what exactly Mihmiverse was, who writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was, and why he was making these kinds of films. The more we learned, the more we fell in love with what we were seeing!

If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
This is truly a difficult question for us. If we really have to choose, we would have to go with "The Giant Spider." The special effects are utterly fantastic. We love the entire premise of the movie, the old cars, and the actors!

Ultimately though, it's a tough decision to have to pick just one because we really have so many favorites—and the Canoe Cops are fantastic! Plus, all of the actors, young and old, are special and have such great depths of talent.

Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
For a start, as you can see from the photo above, we own Mihmiverse shirts. We also have a table in our entryway that displays our Mihmiverse objects, which range from a Steve People puppet, "The Giant Spider" lunchbox, the Mihmiverse wall calendar, our full collections of DVDs, and other collectibles. Everyone who enters our home is exposed to the Mihmiverse!

Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
We seriously love the Mihmiverse the way it is, and just want more of it! What Mr. Mihm does is so special. Other filmmakers seem to need to include over-the-top gore, graphic sexual content (or a least strong references to it), and/or seriously bad language in their films to get attention. To each their own, of course, and we are not prudes by any means. However, the Mihmiverse consistently proves that you can create fun, funny, and high quality movies without resorting to shock value!

It's clear writer/director Christopher R. Mihm garnishes each of his movies with love—and it shows! He really seems to care so much about what he does and we believe he cares about the people who stand by him and his work. That is a forever quality!
CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
This Island Earth
This Island Earth (1955)
Directed by Joseph M. Newman
Starring Jeff Morrow and Faith Domerque

After Dr. Cal Meacham builds an impossibly complex otherworldly device called an interocitor (directly referenced in writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's "Attack of the Moon Zombies"), it's revealed that the process of successfully building such a machine is nothing but an intelligence test. As a result of passing, Dr. Meacham is invited by a not-quite-human-looking being named Exeter to join other great scientists at a remote site for a special research project dealing with atomic energy. Mystery and intrigue follow as Dr. Meacham and two fellow scientists played by "It Came From Beneath The Sea's" Faith Domerque and Russell Johnson (the professor from "Gilligan's Island") team up to discover the truth behind Exeter's research project and the enigmatic leader's extraterrestrial origins. Incredible period special effects (some of the best of the era), a strong cast, some truly creepy moments, memorably cheesy alien costumes (the Metaluna mutant creature has since become iconic) and an all-too-quick ending make this an example of 1950s science fiction as its finest. "This Island Earth" also has the distinction of being one of the last films made in Technicolor!

One of my all-time favorite films!
— Christopher R. Mihm
