This event is open to the public and all attendees will be treated to Uncle John's Burger Dogs served by the "Burger Dog girls" and a free screening of the award-winning Christopher R. The Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast returns with a bang as hosts Rhuby 'n' Hater and perma-guest writer/director Christopher R. Mihm overcome their winter blues long enough to record one of the most entertaining episodes in quite some time!
This month, the podcast crew mix up the format (a little) when they welcome their guest, the ever-talented Rachel Grubb (Amy/Hagra), into the podcast basement (sadly, the fire pit is still covered by two feet of snow) to watch and record the first-ever "MBP3K commentary" for Mr. Mihm's (and Ms. Grubb's) first film in the Mihmiverse series, "The Monster of Phantom Lake."
Hijinks and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" references abound!

Kronos (1957)
Directed by Kurt Neumann Starring Jeff Morrow and Barbara Lawrence

A flying saucer crashes into the Gulf of Mexico, and from it emerges a giant, seemingly unstoppable machine. The strange, "little-cube-on-top-of-big-cube-with-legs" robot trudges across the countryside and methodically drains the Earth of all its electricity, one power plant at a time. Jeff Morrow plays a scientist (He always does!) in charge of stopping the hulking metal monster before it sends humanity back to the dark ages -- literally! As if that weren't enough, he also has to fight off an alien-possessed lab director, protect his beautiful (and brainy) girlfriend and stop the governments of the world from destroying everything by pointlessly attacking the monstrosity with their ineffective atomic arsenals! This film has all the trappings of a great 1950s science-fiction film including evil aliens, a preposterous end-of-the-world scenario, atomic bombs, giant robots, perfect-for-the-era special effects and wonderful over-the-top performances. Though working with a relatively small budget, director Kurt Neumann (who also directed the 1958 classic "The Fly") does a great job of taking a rather ridiculous and trite premise and making something very original out of it. Highly recommended!

Since so many fans and supporters have become Mihmiverse contributors, we wanted to take time to highlight some of these wonderful people! Thus, every month between now and the release of "The Late Night Double Feature," we will randomly choose and interview one of them.
This month, we interview David Lund!
Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
Hi, my name is David Lund, also known as Mr. Jane Curry. We live in a stucco hovel in south Minneapolis. I'm mostly retired.
When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
I learned of the films of the Mihmiverse many years ago, during a conversation with the charming Shannon McDonough (Zita Marczak/Julie Ann Saint Marie). I think she was about 12 years old at the time. I'd not met too many bona fide movie stars before that.
Which of the eight released films is your favorite and why?
"Cave Women on Mars" remains my favorite Mihmiverse film. Rachel Grubb's performance as Hagra was wonderfuleven Rondo-worthy! I remain a major fan of Ms. Grubb and her acting skills.
Why did you contribute to the next Mihmiverse film, "The Late Night Double Feature?"
We (Jane and I) contributed to this year's film to help continue our enjoyment, and to honor the memory of our friend Dorothy Brindle, who passed away last Spring. I can just hear Dorothy cackling in appreciation. Dorothy's son, Paul, and Paul's wife, Kathy, are coming from Michigan for the premiere in April.

"Color Me Frightened"
Each of these films has a color in the title. Name them...if you can!
1. (1954) A strange prehistoric beast lurks in the depths of the Amazonian jungle. A group of scientists try to capture the animal and bring it back to civilization for study. It doesn't go well. Richard Carlson, Richard Denning and Whit Bissell star.
2. (1956) Basil Rathbone stars as Sir Joel Cadman, a mad scientist who kidnaps his victims and cuts open their brains in an effort to discover a means to cure his wife's brain tumor.
3. (1957) Volcanic activity frees giant scorpions from the earth who wreak havoc in the rural countryside and eventually threaten Mexico City. Richard Denning stars in another "colorful" film.
4. (1957) Years before starring as J.R. Ewing's dad on "Dallas," Jim Davis leads a scientific expedition to Africa to investigate wasps that have been exposed to radiation and mutated into giant, killing monsters.
5. (1968) A giant asteroid is heading toward Earth, so Robert Horton leads a team of astronauts from a nearby space station to blow it up. The mission is successful, but they unknowingly return to the station carrying a gooey substance that mutates into one-eyed monsters that feed off electricity.

Here's a fantastic recipe for those bags of chicken breast you can buy in the frozen food section of the supermarket. In addition to adding flavor and succulence to boring old frozen chicken, the sauce works as a fabulous gravy on a side of rice or potatoes. In our house, there are never leftovers when we make this scrumptious dish!
Chicken with Rosemary-Onion Sauce
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (6 ounces each)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3 teaspoons butter, divided
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
- 1/2 cup fat-free milk
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
1. Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. In a large nonstick skillet, brown chicken in 1 teaspoon butter. Transfer to an 11-in. x 7-in. baking dish coated with cooking spray.
2. In the same skillet, saute onion and garlic in remaining butter until tender. Stir in flour until blended. Gradually stir in broth and milk. Add rosemary. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
3. Pour sauce over chicken. Cover and bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a thermometer reads 170°.
Makes 4 servings
5 out of 5 Oculons agree this is a dish not to miss! Serve with asparagus and white rice or mashed potatoesand don't forget the Jell-O. There's always room for Jell-O!
You can find this recipe (and many more like it) and its corresponding nutrition information on the Taste of Home website!
