THE MIHMIVERSE STILL NEEDS YOUR HELP ON AMAZON!
If you're not aware, almost every Mihmiverse film is currently available to be streamed on Amazon Prime! Amazon, however, is currently undergoing a "silent purge" of independent films on its service. Many films of a particularly lower-budget stripe are starting to be pulled (without explanation) in an attempt by the company to "clean up" its movie selection. Unfortunately, the works of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm are not immune.
The first Mihmiverse film to be dropped from their service was "
Destination: Outer Space" and, unfortunately, once removed, it
CANNOT be resubmitted and will
NOT be reconsidered by the service. Again, there was no explanation beyond a vague boilerplate response about "customer quality standards." "
Destination: Outer Space" was the first Mihmiverse film to have a "star rating" slip below three and, as far as we can tell, that's the biggest reason it was dropped.
For a majority of people around the world, streaming has become the de facto home delivery method for movies, and having the films of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm available on one of the largest services is important to help fund future projects!
To make sure the films
STAY on Amazon Prime, we desperately need your helpand it's easy to do! Simply stream any Mihmiverse film from beginning to end. Once it's done, give it a star rating. Then, if you feel so inclined, give it a review! Be honest! Tell the world what you think!
THEN, encourage everyone you know to do the same! The more streaming minutes the 'verse gets, the more likely the films will remain on the service, so feel free to view (and rate!) the entire collection!
Thank you for your help!

REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!
This month, we interview Dakota Hardisty!
Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
My name is Dakota Hardisty and I've been to a handful of Mihmiverse premieres. I've been on the
Mihmiverse Bonfire Podcast and I attended a 24-hour Mihmiverse movie marathon hosted by the official horror host of the 'verse,
Dr. Bob Tesla. I'm also one of the original super-fansI've basically grown up in the Mihmiverse!
When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
I discovered the Mihmiverse around 2010 after I was gifted a set of every movie at the time, right before "
Destination: Outer Space" was released. I was told by family that I'd love the movies and they were absolutely correct! I've gone to the premieres of "
House of Ghosts," "
The Giant Spider," "
Danny Johnson Saves the World," "
Weresquito: Nazi Hunter," as well as all four performances of "
The Monster of Phantom Lake: The Musical!." I've even sat in on a Rock Monsters
* curling match!
* The Rock Monsters is the official curling team of the Mihmiverse, the members of which include writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, Stephanie "Queen of Snakes" Mihm, Alice "Evelyn Johnson" Mihm, Mark "General Castle" Haider, and "monster of all trades" Michael Kaiser.
If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
As for the future of the Mihmiverse, there's always more room for more Canoe Cops!

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
The Deadly Mantis (1957)
Directed by
Nathan JuranStarring
Craig Stevens and
William Hopper
After an arctic glacier mysteriously thaws, a giant praying mantis appears, flies around a lot and causes general mayhem and destructionwhich is basically the entire film in a nutshell. The movie features relatively passable special effects (including a pretty cool finale taking place inside a tunnel), surprisingly decent acting and lots of stock footage (a common practice at the time the film was made and one I replicated in my own "giant bug" movie, "
The Giant Spider"). Overall, the movie fits nicely in the 1950's
"giant-rampaging-monster" genre, with the
"what-seems-only-mildly-annoying-but-then-happens-so-often-it-becomes-painful-but-then-steps-over-an-imaginary-line-and-becomes-very-funny" scenes of the title creature flying through the air (accompanied by the loud buzzing of its wings) making it especially worth checking out! If you're in the mood for a retro "big bug" movie (or two), this one would make a perfect double-feature with "
The Giant Spider!"

We even include rehearsal backing tracks that fully match the music printed in the libretto and on the cast recording CD!
