   CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH

The Astounding She-Monster (1957)
Directed by Ronald V. Ashcroft.
Starring Robert Clarke and Kenne Duncan.

"The Astounding She-Monster" is the kind of classic B-movie that has to be seen to be believed. Not because it's particularly ground-breaking or even good. Instead, this film should be experienced simply for its over-the-top awfulness! The story concerns a trio of crooks who kidnap a rich socialite and squirrel her away into the mountains. On their trek up, a meteor-like object crashes into the woods and a beautiful (and highly deadly) alien woman emerges to... well, we're not really sure what. Mostly she just aimlessly roams the woods in a very tight-fitting silver catsuit. The criminal driving the getaway car catches one glimpse of her and proceeds to crash and incapacitate the car. Luckily, they find themselves very near the cabin of a lonely geologist -- who, coincidentally, just happens to be studying the remains of the fallen meteorite-ish object. The kidnappers break in and hold the scientist and socialite at gunpoint until they can figure on a plan of escape. However, the menacingly silent space chick has her own plans -- which mostly involve just walking around and killing whatever she touches by sickening it with a massive dose of "radium poisoning." As was previously mentioned, this movie is truly terrible. From every angle, "The Astounding She-Monster" not only scratches the bottom of the barrel, it IS the bottom of the barrel! However, at only 62 minutes long, it is absolutely worth seeing. From the strange, overlong voiceover beginning to the mind-numbingly preposterous climax and pathetic attempt at a "Twilight Zone"-esque denouement, the so-bad-it's-good dialogue, painfully obvious day-for-night exterior scenes, and cheeseball camera effect used every time the alien "she-monster" is on-screen make this movie everything a classic-bad-movie fan could ever ask for! I highly recommend it -- if you can handle it!

   COUNTDOWN TO MOON ZOMBIES!

This month continues the series of monthly videos following two Mihmiverse superfans (Bob Arndt and Rob "Rod" Wartick) on their journey from Appleton, Wisconsin, to the shooting of the next Christopher R. Mihm film, "Attack of the Moon Zombies," in Minnesota. In this segment, we experience a little of what the superfans did while making the six hour journey to the set.

   MEET THE ASSOCIATE PRODUCERS!

Since so many fans and supporters have contributed and become associate producers, we wanted to take time to highlight some of these wonderful people! Thus, every month between now and the release of "Attack of the Moon Zombies," we will randomly choose and interview one of them.

This month, we interview our first international (well, Canadian, anyway) associate producer, Mario Giguère!

Mario Giguère
Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
I'm a science fiction and horror movie fan and have been for over fifty years. I've worked in movie theatres mainly which helped fuel my love for cinema. I've been building my website, clubdesmonstres.com, for the past ten years.

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
While doing research for my website I found out about "The Monster of Phantom Lake" about two years ago. I have this big database on monsters on the website (clubdesmonstres.com) and I am always searching for monsters old and new. After doing a page, I ordered two movies and liked them very much.

Which of the five released films is your favorite and why?
"The Monster of Phantom Lake" Aside from "The Monster of Phantom Lake," I guess "Terror from Beneath the Earth" is my favorite. Although I like "The Monster of Phantom Lake" a lot. "Terror..." has a classic storyline, and is well performed with a thrilling and fun monster.

You recently became an associate producer of "Attack of the Moon Zombies." Why?
I once did two short movies a long time ago so I know how hard it is to do these things. As I appreciate the time and effort made to produce these fun little gems, I wanted to help a fellow monster aficionado as much as I could! Long live Saint Euphoria Pictures!
Interested in becoming an associate producer? For a miniscule monetary investment, all associate producers will get their name listed in the end credits of next year's "Attack of the Moon Zombies," a pair of collector's tickets to the premiere, five copies of the film on DVD, and a frame-able certificate with their name and title -- perfect for your own "wall of fame!"

Visit the merchandise page at SaintEuphoria.com, the online home of the films of Christopher R. Mihm, for more information. Who knows? Maybe next month we'll be interviewing YOU!
