THE QUEEN OF SNAKES HAS BEEN UNLEASHED!

The "Queen of Snakes" world premiere was a SMASHING success!

It seems the assumption that the best time of year to release a Mihmiverse film is in the Spring is true because, for the first time in several years, a world premiere was completely sold out! In fact, the event was OVERSOLD because several advance ticket holders were unable to attend, thus freeing up their seats for the lucky few who purchased the paltry number of tickets available at the door.

By every metric, the world premiere of "Queen of Snakes" was a roaring (hissing?) success! Congratulations to the cast and crew on another fantastic addition to the ever-growing shared universe that is the Mihmiverse!

PRE-PRODUCTION OF THE NEXT MIHIMIVERSE FILM HAS BEGUN!

With the release of "Queen of Snakes," writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and the behind-the-scenes crew have turned their full attention to the NEXT Mihmiverse film, "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us!"

In the film Mihmiverse-monster-of-all-trades Michael Kaiser referred to as the Mihmiverse-equivalent of "The Avengers," a local man is suspected of having been transformed into a hideous monster and it's up to a scrappy gang of local kids (Danny & Evelyn Johnson, Butch, Chip, and their friend Billy Blue) to uncover the truth and save Phantom Lake County—and everyone in it—from certain doom! Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm is creating a "triple tribute" to the creature-features of the 1950s, the history of the Mihmiverse, and "Scooby Doo!"

According to Mr. Mihm, this film will follow Danny Johnson (last seen in 2015's "Danny Johnson Saves The World"), his sister Evelyn and three of their buddies on another adventure into the Mihmiverse. However, this one will be special in that it is being specifically designed to reference (and INCLUDE!) as much "Mihmiverse history" as possible—hence Mr. Kaiser's allusion to the Marvel Studios "Avengers" series of films. We have been assured that we can expect appearances by a bevy of familiar faces, characters and locations!

"The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us" is currently in active pre-production, and principal photography is scheduled to begin in the first weekend of June! Should everything work out, it seems that 2020 will be a banner year for the 'verse, with potentially TWO features slated to be released during the year! AND, following the overwhelming success of contribution programs for writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's past films, contributor credits for this new film are NOW AVAILABLE for purchase!

For each $25.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film, a customized, frame-able document certifying their participation in the program and one (1) copy of the finished film! Additional copies of the film and/or world premiere tickets may be pre-ordered as "add-ons" ($10 each) with the purchase of at least one credit.

DON'T FORGET!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

A NEW POCKET STEVE HAS JOINED THE FAMILY!

Queen of Snakes "Pocket Steve"
$14.99 (+$3.99 S&H)
In honor of the release of the latest film, a new Mihmiverse monster has become a "Pocket Steve," one of the cute little collectible Mihmiverse plushies hand-made by the first lady of the Mihmiverse herself, Stephanie Mihm!

This time, it's the title monster from "Queen of Snakes!" As you can see from the photo, this cuddly stuffed creature brings to life the film's tagline: There will be fangs!

"Pocket Steves" are named after the first "Pocket Steve" ever made (and featured in last year's Mihmiverse movie, "Guns of the Apocalypse"): Steve from "Danny Johnson Saves the World" and fit very well into your average shirt pocket (hence the name)!

Including the addition of the Queen of Snakes, seven Mihmiverse monsters are available for purchase: Steve, the Monster of Phantom Lake, an Oculon, a Moon Zombie, X: The Fiend from Beyond Space, and the mutant bat creature from "Terror from Beneath the Earth."

To order any of the currently available "Pocket Steves," go HERE OR order your Queen of Snakes right from this page by clicking the ADD TO CART button below the photo!
MONSTERS OF THE MIHMIVERSE COLORING BOOK!

After years of receiving requests for this very thing, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm continues to work on a very special side project: a Monsters of the Mihmiverse Coloring Book!

The photo seen here of the Mutant Bat from "Terror from Beneath the Earth" is an example of what we can expect from the final product! As of the publication date of this newsletter, Mr. Mihm has completed several pages to be included in the book.

We've been assured that now that "Queen of Snakes" has been released and the Blu-Rays have been shipped, Mr. Mihm will have more time to devote to this project. Hopefully, if pre-production of the next two Mihmiverse films doesn't take up too much time, we'll see the Monsters of the Mihmiverse Coloring Book sooner rather than later!

Stay tuned!

MIHMIVERSE FAN FOCUS
Welcome to the Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!

This month, we interview Derek M. Koch, the host of one of the best podcasts in the world, Monster Kid Radio!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
I'm Derek M. Koch (pronounce that COOK or suffer the wrath of the Oculons!), and I'm a writer/podcaster/sound designer/luchador-movie-enthusiast/monster kid. I'd also like to think I'm the Pacific Northwest's biggest Mihmiverse fan, and I'm the Unofficial Official President of the Unofficial Official Stephanie Mihm Fan Club.

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
Several years ago (maybe 2009?), I attended a HorrorHound Weekend convention, and someone had a few Mihmiverse DVDs available for sale. I had never heard of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm or the Mihmiverse at that point, and back then, I was still trying to figure out my place in monster kid fandom. The movies—and there were only a couple then—spoke to me, and now that I think about it, I think the Mihmiverse is an essential puzzle piece in my monster kid-ness. If I hadn't have discovered these movies...man...I don't want to think about that! I can seriously draw a through line from "The Monster of Phantom Lake" to my Monster Kid Radio podcast (with a few stops along the way!).

If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
I haven't watched "Queen of Snakes"...yet. It just arrived in my mailbox yesterday, so who knows if that will change my own personal ranking of the Mihmiverse films (although with the amazing Stephanie Mihm in the cast, I'm sure it's something special!). As of right now, "The Giant Spider" is my favorite. I love them all, of course, but "The Giant Spider" hits all the right notes for me. It's a monster movie that delivers. The effects are fantastic. The performances are some of the best I've ever seen, not just in the Mihmiverse, but in all of monster-movie-dom. It's a wonderful movie. (Although "Weresquito: Nazi Hunter" is right up there!)

Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
You mean OTHER than asking for a lock of Mr. Mihm's hair a few years ago (true story!)? I talk about the films of the Mihmiverse on my Monster Kid Radio podcast quite a bit, and try to promote what writer/director Christopher R. Mihm does whenever I can. I've tried to make sure the movies are represented on websites like Flickchart. I helped Mr. Mihm get the Mihmiverse Monthly Audiocast listed in iTunes. I've arranged for the Joy Cinema out here in Tigard, OR, to show several of the films, and when that happens, I also hop up on stage and introduce them. I've hooked a number of my friends on the Mihmiverse (and did you know contributing to one of the upcoming movies in a friend or loved one's name makes an EXCELLENT gift and a great way to introduce them to the Mihmiverse?).

Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
Oh, man...where WOULDN'T I like to see it go? There's so much that could be done, and writer/director Christopher R. Mihm and the gang have proven they've got the chops to make nearly anything happen!

I'd love to see a Mihmiverse take on the kaiju film (not just a giant monster like "The Giant Spider," but a full-on man-in-Mitch-Gonzales-designed-suit). However, what I'd really like to see is the Mihmiverse grow beyond the movies.

Steven D. Sullivan wrote a Canoe Cops novel, and I think it'd be a lot of fun to see even more Mihmiverse tie-in novels available. I'd even love to see the movies' scripts packaged and made available for sale. For my money, the Mihmiverse is really the leader when it comes to making these movies that pay homage to the classic sci-fi and horror films, and I want to live in a world where everyone knows that...and can consume it! Mihmiverse TV! A yearly Mihmiverse Convention (Mihm-i-Con!)! Roku! YouTube! More books! Action figures (I NEED A FIGURE OF THE X: THE FIEND FROM BEYOND SPACE ON MY DESK)! Radio dramas! A comic book! I NEED TO FEED THE MIHM-FECTION!
Want to be interviewed for a future edition of the Mihmiverse Fan Focus? Send an email to info@sainteuphoria.com and let us know! Maybe next month the subject will be YOU!
CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
The Brain Eaters (1958)
Directed by Bruno VeSota
Starring Ed Nelson and Alan Frost

A silver, building-sized, spiral-shaped object crash lands outside a small Midwestern town. The local academics investigate but, at first, find nothing inside but a series of closed-loop tunnels. Shortly thereafter, it becomes apparent there was more to the appearance of the craft when townspeople start acting strange and violent—the work of small, fuzzy, pipe-cleaner antenna-ed, brain-eating parasites from deep beneath the Earth's surface. Will the town survive the brain eaters' onslaught? Will the country? Will the WORLD!? Hyperbole notwithstanding, this film falls squarely in the "so-bad-it's-good" category. The production looks and feels very low budget. The acting, directing, editing, production values, and special effects all have a distinct "drive-in double feature" vibe. The brain parasite creatures are literally wind-up toys covered in fur and pipe cleaners! The film also contains what amounts to a speaking cameo appearance by a young Leonard Nimoy (though made up to look very old)—a role for which his last name is incorrectly spelled in the credits! All things considered, the film is not GREAT, but it is a great example of low-budget mid-twentieth-century schlock. Highly recommended—but only for the biggest fans of the genre!
