STREAM THE MIHMIVERSE ON AMAZON
Almost every Mihmiverse film is currently available to be streamed on Amazon Primeincluding the latest release, "
Queen of Snakes!" However, Amazon has recently taken a "hostile stance" toward independent films on its service. Many films of a particularly lower-budget stripe are starting to be pulled (without explanation) in an attempt by the company to "clean up" its movie selection. Unfortunately, the works of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm have not been immune.
The first Mihmiverse film to be dropped from their service was "
Destination: Outer Space" and, unfortunately, once removed, it
CANNOT be resubmitted and will
NEVER be reconsidered by the service. There was no explanation beyond a vague boilerplate response about "customer quality standards." "
Destination: Outer Space" was the first Mihmiverse film to have a "star rating" slip below three and, as far as we can tell, that's the biggest reason it was dropped.
For a majority of people around the world, streaming has become the de facto home delivery method for movies, and having the films of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm available on one of the largest services is important to help keep future Mihmiverse projects coming!
To make sure the films
STAY on Amazon Prime, we need your helpand it's easy to do! Simply stream any Mihmiverse film from beginning to end. This is particularly important as films that are started but not finished are usually flagged as "problematic," so make sure you run each film through to its end credits!
Once you've finished watching something, give it a star rating... but only if your star rating is
AT LEAST three. Anything below three stars negatively affects the film and potentially drags it below the "three star" removal threshold. If you feel so inclined, give it a review, but be honest! Tell the world what you think and maybe even let others know that there are
MORE Mihmiverse films available to watch on the service!
THEN, encourage everyone you know to do the same! The more streaming minutes the 'verse gets, the more likely the films will remainso feel free to view (and rate!) the entire collection!
Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the
Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to
YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they
REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!
This month, we interview Doug & Wendy Brem!
Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
We are Doug & Wendy Brem from Milwaukee, WI. We are both huge movie buffs and love all sorts of films from super cheesy sci-fi to horror and musicals, etc., etc.!
When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
Doug is a huge supporter of independent films, so a friend turned us on to "
The Monster of Phantom Lake." After watching that, we had the pleaseure of meeting Shannon McDonough (Julie Ann Saint Marie/Zita Marczak) at the
All Night Flea Market in Wheaton, IL where we bought a copy of "
It Came from Another World!" After that, we were hooked and are proud to say we now own all of the films of the Mihmiverse on DVD
AND Blu-Ray!
If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
We both tell everyone who will listen how much fun the movies are! Wendy has contributed props for the next movie ("
The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us," while Doug's band
RatBatSpider is working on a tribute song about the Mihmiverse!
(
Editorial note: This is the first writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has heard about this and, in addition to being quite touched, he's beyond excited to hear the result!)
Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
Doug would love to see a movie where all of the Mihmiverse monsters appear in the same story line. Wendy would love to see a good mystery!

CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Brain from Planet Arous (1957)
Directed by
Nathan Juran Starring
John Agar and
Joyce Meadows
After an alien spacecraft crash lands in the desert, a friendly, mild-mannered scientist (played by B-movie regular John Agar) discovers a brilliantly-awful-looking floating brain creature (with glowing eyes, naturally). The extraterrestrial quickly takes over the scientist's mind and body... and gets inexplicably and uncontrollably horny for the man's girlfriend. Of course, this unusually lusty behavior tips her off that something's not right with her man. Most of the time, the guy looks and seems almost normal,
BUT, when the alien manifests its telepathically destructive (and seemingly unlimited) powers, the actor dons a pair of shiny silver contacts that make it clear this cheesy brain creature is
NOT to be messed with! Needless to say, the story is ridiculous. The performances are over-the-top, atomic weapons are involved (sort of), death and destruction rains down upon the human race and the alien meets a rather gruesome end involving an axe. Overall, this is one of the best of the worst I have ever seen. The silver contact lenses scared the living heck out of my son when he was six, but most people will simply find them to be just the right amount of B-movie "awful!" If you like your "drive-in era" films with extra cheddar (with a side of gouda and slathered in nacho cheese), this one is definitely for you!

A Bowl of Serials!
Between 1950 and 1953, the movie studios produced 8 science fiction serialsand then stopped! In fact, after 1953, there were
NO serials of
ANY kind produced by a major studio for several years. ("
Star Wars" and Indiana Jones kick-started the "full length" serial genre in the '70s and '80s, respectively.)
To honor the beginning of the end, 70 years ago, we present a list of these final 8 sci-fi serials, and a separate list of trivia about them. Match 'em up and you'll be Grrreat!. (And no, Booberry, Frankenberry and Count Chocula are not the serials you're looking for.)
1. (1950) "Flying Disc Man from Mars"
2. (1950) "The Invisible Monster"
3. (1951) "Captain Video: Master of the Stratosphere"
4. (1951) "Mysterious Island"
5. (1952) "Radar Men from the Moon"
6. (1952) "Zombies of the Stratosphere"
7. (1953) "Commando Cody: Sky Marshal of the Universe"
8. (1953) "
The Lost Planet"
A. From Republic Pictures, 12 25-minute episodes about climate change and the aliens behind it! A sonic-powered one-man flying suit with an aerodynamic helmet and a new specially-designed rocketship are both a part of the solution.
B. From Republic Pictures, 12 13-minute episodes about a planet worried about Earth's foray into atomic weapons and how they plan to stop it. Nazis, criminals and ray guns, oh my!
C. From Columbia Pictures, 15 15-minute episodes about a Civil War POW who escapes in a hot air balloon and crash lands in a strange land where he encounters Captain Nemo from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." You read that correctly.
D. From Columbia Pictures, 15 chapters about an interplanetary menace, an evil alien dictator and a traitorous earth scientist. It's the only serial of ANY kind to be based on a TV show.
E. From Columbia Pictures, 15 chapters about Dr. Grood and his quest to rule the universe! Rex, Tim, Edmund and Ella might have something to say about that.
F. From Republic Pictures, 12 episodes about a would-be dictator and scientist who uses a special formula to help rob a bank...but he eventually gets caught and dies while trying to escape. It's a sci-fi AND a crime serial.
G. From Republic Pictures,12 chapters about a mysterious force from outer space that can wipe out military bases and important industrial complexes. Will our hero and his trusty employees save the day?
H. From Republic Pictures: 12 episodes about Martian invaders planning to use hydrogen bombs to blow Earth out of its orbit. Robots are involved. Leonard Nimoy is in this one!
