As the hot summer months march toward the inevitable autumn cool down, the Mihmiverse remains a quiet place. Behind the scenes, however, things are far less quiet than it would seem!

Months into his much-deserved "year off" (following 10 features in as many years), writer/director Christopher R. Mihm has realized he doesn't really know HOW to relax. Instead, during this "hiatus," he has sketched out ideas for as many as five potential Mihmiverse features, continues to work on his part (the script) of the forthcoming stage musical version of "The Monster of Phantom Lake," is traveling around the country to promote the films and making plans for celebrating next year's ten-year anniversary of the release of the film that started it all, "The Monster of Phantom Lake."

Speaking of the tenth anniversary, we have some VERY exciting news! Scheduled for the EXACT date of the release of the film, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm will be holding an exclusive party/screening in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area on March 9th, 2016 to celebrate the release of the currently-in-production "The Monster of Phantom Lake" 10th Anniversary Edition DVD...IN 3-D!

The Monster of Phantom Lake IN 3D!
That's right! In addition to working on his part of the musical stage version of the film, Mr. Mihm is busy converting the film into an old school red/blue 3-D film that will be made available on DVD on "Monster Day" (the Mihmiverse holiday created specifically to celebrate the release of the film over the years) early next year! This special edition release will include both 3D and non-3D versions of the film and several NEW extras, including a new audio commentary from writer/director Christopher R. Mihm reflecting on the film and its impact on the Mihmiverse! Other cool special features are in the planning stages and will be revealed over the coming months as they come together!

Want to help with the production of this special edition of the film that began the Mihmiverse? Want to receive a contributor credit at the end of this new print of the film? Want to reserve your copy of the DVD AND your spot at the release party/screening? Contributor credits are NOW AVAILABLE!

For each $50.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film, a customized, frameable document certifying their participation in the program, one (1) copy of this special edition on DVD and one (1) collector's ticket to the DVD release party/screening! Additional DVDs of the film and/or party tickets may be pre-ordered as "add-ons" ($10 each) with the purchase of at least one credit.

Contributor credits can even be given as gifts! There are few gifts as unique as your loved one's name in the end credits of a movie, especially a film as beloved as this!

If you'd like to contribute, visit the contributor page at SaintEuphoria.com by clicking HERE!

*A single credit is defined as the name of one (1) person or corporate entity. Any credit requiring the word "and," an ampersand (&), and/or a comma (except when part of a legal company name) will constitute multiple credits and MUST BE paid for separately.

NOTE: The contributor program is an "equal exchange" program, which means specifically that those participating have NO SAY in the decisions or actions taken by anyone involved in the actual production of the film and are NOT entitled to ANY possible future profits earned by the film, derivative works, and/or merchandise created for or featuring elements from the film. Becoming an contributor does not entitle the participant to ANY ownership WHATSOEVER of the finished film or associated elements.

An amazing and completely unexpected thing happened at the recent screening of "Danny Johnson Saves The World" in Forest Lake, MN!

Flanked by a vampire woman, the bride of Frankenstein and a gorilla (man-in-suit, of course), writer/director Christopher R. Mihm was presented with a key to the city by Mayor Stev Stegner and July 30th, 2015 was proclaimed to be "Minnesota Filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm Night!" (Check out the photo below for proof!)

Needless to say, Mr. Mihm was dumbfounded and happy-as-a-clam to receive such a prestigious award. He wants to express his gratitude to all involved in making this great honor a reality, particularly Chris Costello, the "proprietor" of Edwood Grimm's Thursday Night Fright, the weekly screening series during which "Danny Johnson Saves The World" was presented.

Cool new collectibles are NOW available—POCKET STEVES!

Cat Women of the Moon (1953)
Directed by Arthur Hilton
Starring Sonny Tufts, Victor Jory, and Marie Windsor

The first manned mission to the moon lands to find nothing but a barren, lifeless hunk of rock...or so it seems at first! When the lone female of the ship's crew begins to exhibit strange symptoms, she inexplicably leads her shipmates to a cave with a breathable atmosphere...over-sized, very unconvincing spider puppets...and women in cat suits who do strange dances because their atmosphere has been reduced to a continuously shrinking pocket and the population of their once shining civilization has dwindled to a handful of angry females. Without the love of men, the women have grown bitter and must find a way to escape before it's too late. These strange alien women are extremely telepathic-ish, even across vast interstellar distances. Unfortunately, their extra-sensory gifts don't work on men, so they're stuck using their OTHER gifts (read: sex appeal) to force the men of the crew to teach them how to fly their rocket back to Earth where they plan on taking over. Will they succeed? Does it really matter? "Cat Women of the Moon" is a film that goes so far into "bad" territory that it crosses over that imaginary line and becomes something amazing! Literally EVERYTHING about this film screams TERRIBLE—but in all the right ways! If you like movies piled high with extra cheese, this should DEFINITELY be near the top of your list!
— Christopher R. Mihm

The Early Days

The cheese was still fresh when these classic horror films were made. Name them!

1. (1931) The American version and Spanish language version of this film were made by two different casts on the same set—one filming during the day, and the other by night. Although the American version starred Bela Lugosi, many film historians believe the Spanish version starring Carlos Villar is far superior.

2. (1935) This film, directed by James Whale, is famous for the line, "She's alive! Alive!!"

3. (1941) Spencer Tracy, Ingrid Bergman and Lana Turner starred in this film adaptation of a 1886 novella written by Robert Louis Stevenson.

4. (1943) Two classic monsters meet in this film starring Lon Chaney, Jr. and Bela Lugosi, with Ilona Massey as "Elsa." (No, it's not an early version of "Frozen.")

5. (1945) George Sanders, Donna Reed and Angela Lansbury were featured in this film about a man who makes a wish in front of a mystical Egyptian statue and lives to regret it. Based on a story by Oscar Wilde.

Is YOUR family yelling for pie? Here is a quick and easy mixed berry pie that will compliment any meal!

Blackberry-Raspberry Pie

  • 3 cups fresh blackberries
  • 3 cups fresh raspberries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 pre-made crust (found in the diary or frozen section of most grocery stores)
Preheat oven to 400°.

Mix all the ingredients together.

Let filling sit about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

Put bottom crust in your glass pie plate (glass pie plates work best!) and fill completely with filling.

Top with second crust, trim off extra crust with a butter knife or your fingers and pinch the two crusts together by using a fork. (I like to add an extra decoration with the extra dough that was left from trimming the crust. Flatten the excess dough and cut out hearts, flowers, stars or whatever strikes your fancy!)

Make several small slits in the top crust and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake for 50 minutes.

Yield: 8 servings

My pie-lovin' brood couldn't get enough of this not-too-tart, not-too-sweet fruity confection! We give this satisfying dessert 5 out of 5 "flying saucers flying in space!"

ENJOY!

Since so many fans and supporters have joined the official Mihmiverse fan club, we wanted to take time to highlight some of these wonderful people!

This month, we interview one of the very first members of the club, Moon Zombie faction member Lucy Grogg!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!

I'm just your average 33 year old librarian. I love horror, gore, snuff films (imitation of course!), freak shows, and rogue taxidermy. I consider tattoos to be the best form of therapy. Pretty crazy about cats, too.

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?

I was lucky enough to run into the amazing Dr. Ivan Cryptosis at a HorrorHound convention in Indianapolis several years ago. I was unfamiliar with Christopher R. Mihm, but Cryptosis persuaded me to purchase one of Mihm's films based on the fact that, if nothing else, he gave an introduction. Since then I've never looked back; I'm a Mihm fan for life.

Which of the ten released films is your favorite and why?

My favorite Mihm film is "Terror from Beneath the Earth" as it was the film that introduced me to the wonderful world that is the Mihmiverse. It was the first of Christopher Mihm's that I ever saw, the beginning of a very special relationship if you will, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

When you joined the fan club, you chose to join the Moon Zombies faction. Why?"

I chose to join the Moon Zombies faction as any other faction would be blasphemy. I can't very well walk around with a Moon Zombie tattoo on my leg (coming Sept 30th!) and not be a part of the Moon Zombie faction now can I? That would simply be bonkers.

If you could suggest anything regarding the direction of the future of the Mihmiverse, what would you suggest? What do YOU want to see?

Quite honestly, I want a fan club T-shirt—something I can wear around as a way to proudly represent being a part of the Christopher R. Mihm fan club. If someone could also send me some ice cream and pizza, that would be great.

Interested in joining the official fan club of the films of Christopher R. Mihm? Designed as a way for fans to be more involved in the Mihmiverse and the direction it takes, members are entitled to a myriad of benefits including exclusive merchandise, pre-sale access to cool stuff, invitations to members-only events and much, much more! For around $4 a month (less than the price of most cups of coffee), you too can be a part of the fun. PLUS, every member gets a cool membership card, a hand-signed welcome letter and will be enrolled in one of the two fan club "factions," (Monsters or Moon Zombies) which will be important for future team events, games and contests!

Visit the fan club page at SaintEuphoria.com, the online home of the films of Christopher R. Mihm, for more information. Who knows? Maybe next month we'll be interviewing YOU!
