As the summer begins and the world premiere of "Danny Johnson Saves The World" fades into memory, we look toward the future of the Mihmiverse. With ten films completed in as many years, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm is taking a well-deserved year off from the rigors of the feature film making process and has turned his attention toward new Mihmiverse-related adventures.

First and foremost, he has sanctioned the creation of the official Mihmverse fan club! Designed as a way for fans to be more involved in the Mihmiverse and the direction it takes, members are entitled to a myriad of benefits including exclusive merchandise, pre-sale access to cool stuff, invitations to members-only events and much, much more! For around $4 a month (less than the price of most cups of coffee), you too can be a part of the fun. PLUS, every member gets a cool membership card, a hand-signed welcome letter and will be enrolled in one of the two fan club "factions," (Monsters or Moon Zombies) which will be important for future team events, games and contests!

As for other projects, Mr. Mihm has told us he has "a million ideas" BUT, they will all have to wait as he teams up with Mike Cook (Gustav/Dr. Edwards) and composer/lyricist Adam Boll to adapt the first Mihmiverse film, "The Monster of Phantom Lake," into a full-on stage musical! If you were one of the lucky attendees of the "The Late Night Double Feature" premiere pre-party (the first "Night Before the Thing"), you were treated to a live "first draft" selection from the play.

Much of the preliminary work is complete and, as of now, Mr. Mihm is working on the script while Mr. Boll continues to hone the score and songs. If everything works out just right, the plan is to publicly debut the finished play on March 9th, 2016—the 10th anniversary of the release of the film on which it's based. Rest assured, we will keep you updated as this story develops!

Mihm come up with the monsters of the Mihmiverse, we highly recommend checking it out!

In honor of Mr. Gonzales' design for the hunter robot in the latest Mihmiverse film, Mr. Koch and Mr. Gonzales spend part two discussing their favorite robots from classic monster and sci-fi movies.

Lastly, Ware Carlton-Ford, who is best known to Mihmivites as Joe in "The Giant Spider," will be traveling to Italy in August to attend graduate school and study physical theater. Since this is no small undertaking, Mr. Carlton-Ford has started an IndieGoGo campaign to help raise funds for the trip and his schooling. Since this is a HUGE opportunity for him, the Mihmiverse would like to help him out as much as it can. This is where YOU come in!

We encourage you to visit his IndieGoGo page and read a little more about what he would like to accomplish while there AND what he'd like to bring back to share with the greater community. In addition, we ask that you consider donating to his campaign to help him realize his dreams and eventually take what he's learned and put it to use for the good of us all.

The campaign will only be open through the beginning of July, so we ask that you visit the page as soon as you can, learn as much as you can and donate what you can.

We here at the Mihmiverse Monthly Newsletter wish Mr. Carlton-Ford a fond farewell and a hearty "see you soon!"

Five Million Years to Earth (1967)
Directed by Roy Ward Baker
Starring Andrew Keir and Barbara Shelley

Known as "Quatermass and the Pit" in its native England, "Five Million Years to Earth" is actually the third theatrical release to feature Professor Bernard Quatermass, an English "hero scientist" character who has also appeared in many influential BBC serials. In this adventure, Professor Quatermass is called in after authorities find a strange metallic object in the London Underground. The object is believed to be an unexploded bomb—albeit one surrounded by unusual ape-like skeletons. Quatermass, along with the paleontologist assigned to the dig site and his assistant, look further into the unusual object, and uncover a long history of dark supernatural occurrences in the surrounding areas. As they delve ever deeper, they realize the object is extraterrestrial in origin, with a powerful and frightening telepathic force connected to it. Eventually, all hell breaks loose, and it's up to our trio of protagonists to save the world! Plain and simple, this film is excellent. It's tense, well plotted and paced, and masterfully executed. The story unfolds in such a way as to always keep you guessing, and the big reveal, though somewhat cheesy, is very memorable! Admittedly, some of the special effects are dated but, for a film made in 1967, it holds up very well. If you've never experienced a Quatermass film before, this is definitely a good one! Highly recommended.

Johnson & Johnson (and Johnson, Johnson, Johnson)

Long before Danny Johnson saved the world, some other Johnsons were experiencing their own horror stories. Name them.

1. Probably known best as Professor Roy Hinkley, this Johnson appeared in cheesefest films like "It Came From Outer Space" (1953), "This Island Earth," (1955) and "Attack of the Crab Monsters" (1957).

2. This Johnson had the dubious honor of being one of the stars of "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (1959) as well as "Bride of the Monster" (1955) and "The Beast of Yucca Flats" (1961).

3. Most of the popular TV westerns from the 1950s-60s (from "Bonanza" to "Have Gun, Will Travel") featured at least one appearance by this Johnson. But he also starred in the classic "boy meets gorilla" film "Mighty Joe Young" in 1949.

4. This Johnson passed away a few weeks ago after a 64-year career in the movies. One of his highlights, (or lowlights, depending on how you look at it), was starring as Professor John Markway in 1963's "The Haunting."

5. In 1980, this female Johnson starred in the horror film "The Watcher in the Woods," after skating through "Ice Castles" in 1978, but before becoming a Bond Girl in "For Your Eyes Only" in 1981.

Need something delicious to do before the eyes start to appear in those last potatoes at the bottom of the bag? Here's an easy and yummy recipe I came up with that will not only take care of those "bottom-of-the-baggers," it will go with almost any main dish!

Parsley Potato Wedges

  • 6 large potatoes (skin on)
  • 1 stick of butter
  • salt
  • pepper
  • dried parsley
Preheat the oven to 425°

Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or on the stovetop in a small pan.

Wash and cut each potato into four wedges and coat them by dipping them in the melted butter.

Place each wedge skin-side-down on a cookie sheet in a single layer.

Sprinkle the wedges with salt and pepper (to taste) and generously with the dried parsley.

Bake for 45 minutes or until the flesh turns a nice, golden brown and is tender.

Yield: 6 servings (4 wedges per serving)

My hungry monsters gobble them up as fast as I can serve them! I recommend serving them with a dipping sauce like ketchup, BBQ sauce or ranch, although without is just as tasty! I give these 5 out of 5 "mind control rings!" (You will make these potatoes. You will eat these potatoes. You will love these potatoes.)
