CURRENT NEWS
THE NEXT MIHMIVERSE FILM IS COMING TOGETHER!

Strange things are afoot in Phantom Lake County! Luckily, a plucky group of local youths are on the case in the currently-in-production Mihmiverse film, "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us!" Principal photography of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's next film has been underway for just over a month and is already almost half done!

Though it was previously only hinted at, we've received confirmation that the fabled Phantom Lake Canoe Corps will return to the silver screen. After a brief mid-summer holiday break, the production will swing back into full gear with the return of return of everyone's favorite canoe-based lawmen: Sven & Gustav! I'm addition, Mr. Mihm has promised us that other fan-favorite characters will also appear in the new movie, including (but certainly not limited to) a pair of familiar scientists, a cigar-chomping military man, and an intrepid reporter! To say we here at the Mihmiverse Monthly are excited to see this film is a gross understatement!

For now, we've been "gifted" a very short, very funny little teaser from the film that is exclusive to this newsletter! We've been told this is the kind of shenanigans and fun we can expect from the finished film. The scene stars siblings Daniel, David, and Alice Mihm reprising their roles of Chip, Butch, and Evelyn (respectively) from 2015's "Danny Johnson Saves The World." (As for whether Steve will show up in the final film, we honestly don't know. But, like you, our fingers are crossed!)

In "The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us," a local man is suspected of having been transformed into a hideous monster and it's up to a scrappy gang of local kids to uncover the truth and save Phantom Lake County—and everyone in it—from certain doom! Writer/director Christopher R. Mihm is creating a "triple tribute" to the creature-features of the 1950s, the history of the Mihmiverse, and "Scooby Doo!"

According to Mr. Mihm, this film will follow Danny Johnson (last seen in 2015's "Danny Johnson Saves The World"), his sister Evelyn and three of their buddies on another adventure into the Mihmiverse. This one, however, will be special in that it is being specifically designed to reference as much "Mihmiverse history" as possible and will include a bevy of familiar faces, characters and locations!

"The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us" is currently in active production with principal photography scheduled to continue throughout the summer! Should everything work out, it seems that 2020 will be a banner year for the 'verse, with potentially TWO features slated to be released during the year! AND, following the overwhelming success of contribution programs for writer/director Christopher R. Mihm's past films, contributor credits for this new film are NOW AVAILABLE for purchase!

For each $25.00 donation, all contributors will be entitled to having a single name* of their choosing listed in the contributors section of the closing credits of the film, a customized, frame-able document certifying their participation in the program and one (1) copy of the finished film! Additional copies of the film and/or world premiere tickets may be pre-ordered as "add-ons" ($10 each) with the purchase of at least one credit.

DON'T FORGET!

Credits can even be given as gifts! Imagine the looks on the faces of your loved ones when they find out their names will be immortalized on the silver screen!

THE MIHMIVERSE STILL NEEDS YOUR HELP ON AMAZON!

If you're not aware, almost every Mihmiverse film is currently available to be streamed on Amazon Prime! Amazon, however, is currently undergoing a "silent purge" of independent films on its service. Many films of a particularly lower-budget stripe are starting to be pulled (without explanation) in an attempt by the company to "clean up" its movie selection. Unfortunately, the works of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm are not immune.

The first Mihmiverse film to be dropped from their service was "Destination: Outer Space" and, unfortunately, once removed, it CANNOT be resubmitted and will NOT be reconsidered by the service. Again, there was no explanation beyond a vague boilerplate response about "customer quality standards." "Destination: Outer Space" was the first Mihmiverse film to have a "star rating" slip below three and, as far as we can tell, that's the biggest reason it was dropped.

For a majority of people around the world, streaming has become the de facto home delivery method for movies, and having the films of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm available on one of the largest services is important to help fund future projects!

To make sure the films STAY on Amazon Prime, we desperately need your help—and it's easy to do! Simply stream any Mihmiverse film from beginning to end. Once it's done, give it a star rating. Then, if you feel so inclined, give it a review! Be honest! Tell the world what you think! THEN, encourage everyone you know to do the same! The more streaming minutes the 'verse gets, the more likely the films will remain on the service, so feel free to do the entire collection!

Thank you for your help!

MIHMIVERSE FAN FOCUS
Welcome to the Mihmiverse Monthly feature where we talk to YOU, the fans! Every month, we choose a random Mihmivite and ask them a few Mihmiverse-related questions in an attempt to get to know them better and find out what they REALLY think about the films of Christopher R. Mihm!

This month, we interview Joseph George!

Introduce yourself to the Mihmiverse!
My name is Joseph George, I am an avid film lover and all-around nerd. I work in IT at a community college and trying to write a fantasy novel.

When and how did you discover the films of Christopher R. Mihm?
I discovered Christopher R. Mihm's films after seeing him promote them at my local Alamo Drafthouse movie theater here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. With his work being all about '50s sci-fi and monsters, it seemed right up my alley!

If you had to pick just ONE, which of the Mihmiverse films would be your favorite?
It's hard to choose just ONE. They all are pretty unique, but if I really had to choose, it would be "Demon with the Atomic Brain." It has great characters, cool props, and, of course, fantastic creatures!

Tell us how you, in particular, show your "Mihmiverse pride!"
I show my "Mihmiverse Pride" by donating to the films, buying the DVDs and Blu-Rays, and any extra merchandise that I can get. I am also currently working on the Mihmiverse Wiki, which is a collaborative website created to be an extensive encyclopedia of the Mihmiverse. I also traveled over 1000 miles to be at the recent "Terror from Beneath the Earth" 10th anniversary event where I "rubbed elbows" with a bunch of Mihmiverse folks like Mike Cook (Dr. Edwards), James Norgard (Dr. Gabriel), Michael "The Monster" Kaiser, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, the Queen of Snakes herself, Stephanie Mihm, and all of the Phantom Lake Kids!

Where would you like to see the Mihmiverse go in the future?
In the future, I’d like the Mihmiverse to do a few more outer space films or even a time travel film!
Want to be interviewed for a future edition of the Mihmiverse Fan Focus? Send an email to info@sainteuphoria.com and let us know! Maybe next month the subject will be YOU!
CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE MONTH
Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959)
Directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr.
Starring Bela Lugosi, Tor Johnson, and Maila Nurmi

Though most people will be familiar with this movie because of Tim Burton's 1994 biopic of the director, "Ed Wood," the actual film is a mixed bag of weirdness, cinematic ineptitude, and 1950s sci-fi kitsch that is far more entertaining than it has any right to be! Considered one of "the worst movies ever made," the plot revolves around aliens who grow fearful that the human race's predilection for violence (and its tendency to build bigger and more lethal weaponry) may lead it to someday discover the most destructive power in the universe—and, naturally, use it to destroy EVERYTHING! The aliens hatch a convoluted scheme to bring our dead back to life, because that will somehow stop us (?) by showing us how frightened we should be of our alien invaders...or something like that. The logic is less-than sound but, with so much "so-bad-it's-good" happening in one film, it hardly matters! Ed Wood's most infamous film, "Plan 9 from Outer Space" is truly in a league of its own. It has served as an inspiration for countless aspiring filmmakers and deserves its considerable cult following. If you've never seen it, but are a big fan of the films of writer/director Christopher R. Mihm, you definitely need to seek it out!

It should be noted that I recently participated in the recording of an episode of the I Love That Movie! podcast dedicated to Tim Burton's film, "Ed Wood." Though the discussion is mostly focused on Tim Burton's Academy Award-winning film, "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and how its making was portrayed in "Ed Wood" gets covered extensively in Mr. Mihm's episode.

Also, Derek M. Koch (host of Monster Kid Radio) has recently begun to slowly release a limited series, Plan 9 by 9, a VERY in-depth breakdown of "Plan 9 From Outer Space" taken nine minutes at a time!

Check out my "Ed Wood"-centric episode of the I Love That Movie! podcast HERE!

THE TRIVIA CORNER
Mihmesota!

By now, everyone knows that writer/director Christopher R. Mihm hails from the "Land of 10,00 Lakes."

But he also comes from a state where many great horror and sci-fi movie actors were born. Below, I'll name a few and mention a few facts about them..Then I'll give you a list of films and see if you can match 'em up!

1. Gale Sondergaard, born 1899 in Litchfield, MN. Gale was considered for the role of the Wicked Witch of the West in 1939's "The Wizard of Oz," but the director thought she was too beautiful to "play evil," and offered the role to Margaret Hamilton instead.
2. Lew Ayres, born 1908 in Minneapolis. In his 65-year film career, Ayres appeared in films that covered just about every genre you can imagine...including a 9-film serial run as Doctor Kildare in the '30s and '40s.
3. Virginia Bruce, born 1909 in Minneapolis, but moved with her family to Fargo, North Dakota when she was very young. At one point in her film career, she was part of "The Goldwyn Girls," a female dance troupe that also included Betty Grable.
4. Richard Carlson, born 1912 in Albert Lea, MN. Before his 40-year Hollywood career, he graduated from the University of Minnesota, and for a short time, taught English there.
5. James Arness, born 1923 in Minneapolis. Everyone knows Arness played Matt Dillon on TV's "Gunsmoke" for a couple of decades...but did you know he was brother to the next guy on the list?
6. Peter Graves, born 1926 in Minneapolis. The family name was actually Aurness. James altered his name slightly. Peter obviously changed his completely. Of course he is most famous for his TV role on "Mission Impossible," and on film in "Airplane." "What's the vector, Victor?"

A. "The Thing From Another World" (1951), "Them!" (1954)
B. "The Invisible Woman" (1940), "Night Has a Thousand Eyes" (1948)
C. "The Black Cat" (1941), "The Spider Woman Strikes Back" (1946)
D. "Killers From Space" (1954), "It Conquered the World" (1956)
E. "It Came From Outer Space" (1953), "Creature From the Black Lagoon" (1954)
F. "Donovan's Brain" (1953), "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" (1973)

Also from Minnesota: Tippi Hedren, born 1930 in New Ulm. She's mom to Melanie Griffith, Grandma to Dakota Johnson...and starred in Hitchcock's legendary "The Birds!" (1963)
